I highly value education, but not everything you learned about addiction is proven…or true. Over the years theories have fallen flat and new science has changed the scope of addiction recovery, but if you don’t educate yourself, you may fall prey to limited thinking on the matter.
There are many wonderful books about recovering from addictions. The following books and resources are some of my favorites and a great start to building your recovery foundation from a mind, body, spirit perspective – or holistic recovery and healing.
As with any addiction, there’s so much more to recovery than just stopping the addictive behavior. Recovery is a learned experience, and a practice of rediscovering your whole self – mind, body, and spirit. Begin journeying toward your sacred being by peeling back painful or egoic layers, digging deep, processing, forgiving, remembering, reprogramming, etc. from a physiological, social, and spiritual perspective.
